The Irresponsibility of a Narrow Debate on Military AI
AI technologies have a considerably broader scope than the debate on the ethics of military AI appears to suggest (with a predominant focus on Lethal Autonomous Weapon Systems). Additionally, this debate should not be limited to the risks of military AI; the opportunities should be discussed likewise.
The debate about responsible AI should therefore concern each step of the military decision-making process, and take enhanced performance in military operations into account. In this session Prof. Dr. V.S. Subrahmanian will briefly introduce some propositions to expand the scope of the debate on responsible military AI. In a professionally moderated House of Commons setting participants of the breakout session are welcomed to join the debate.
