Pursuing Trustworthy AI Governance in Defence Innovation
As part of REAIM, we invite defence policy makers to join a workshop, based on informal, small-group discussions, to highlight the potential risks of AI in defence and military innovation, and appeal to the collective interest to reduce such risks through discussion and norms building. In this context, participants will discuss what existing AI governance strategies have in common, finding areas of convergence, and potential frameworks for responsible AI, which would include the implementation of international norms.
The workshop is organised by a global team of experts, including Michael Raska, Assistant Professor at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Simona Soare, Research Fellow at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), Samuel Bendett, Analyst at the Center for Naval Analyses’ Russia Studies Programme, Wichuta Teeratanabodee, Senior Analyst at RSIS, and Dr. S. Kate Devitt, Chief Scientist at Trusted Autonomous Systems, Defence Cooperative Research Centre (TAS-DCRC) and Adjunct Professor at Centre for Robotics, Queensland University of Technology.
