Is AI Already a Juggernaut beyond Human Control: From Moral Machines to Global Governance

The available pathways toward mitigating the impact of weaponizing AI will certainly not be easy to negotiate.  AI’s benefits and destructive capabilities are so tightly entangled that policy planner are often stymied in how, for example, to ensure compliance with any proposed regulations to limit deployment of autonomous weapon systems. But failure is also not an option.  This talk will outline the numerous pathways and the next steps that must be taken on each as we fully engage the challenge of managing a complex array of technological mechanisms, corporate aspirations, and governance conundrums.
