Applied Intuition: Building trust into autonomy with commercial best practices
The commercial industry spends a lot of time thinking about how to properly vet an autonomous vehicle (AV) so that any consumer can trust it. Going to market with autonomous trucks, robotaxis, personal vehicles, or other commercial systems requires extensive verification and validation of the design and operation of the autonomy software system and its components. As militaries worldwide develop policy frameworks on developing and deploying autonomous systems, this demonstration– focused on tooling and commercial practices– will help them plan ahead on what capabilities they will need. Specifically, we will walk through how to build a safety case and a scenario-based test plan in order to provide traceable, quantitative evidence of autonomy trust.
