The impact of Artificial Intelligence in Defence in Space Domain

AI is likely to transform and revolutionize future warfare. The possession of cutting-edge technologies in AI will be a strategic asset to safeguard or develop military superiority in all domains. Particularly, the use of AI in space is foreseen to be critical to both ground and in orbit assets significantly impacting almost all the areas of defence in space related to space and earth data processing (e.g. Space Situational Awareness, Space Traffic Management, Space-based Earth Observation) and satellite communications. The objective of this session is to identify the opportunities and challenges of introducing AI enabled assets and defence applications in space having in mind the responsible use of AI and space assets.
